A nearby volcano erupted many years ago and spurt out lava as far as Lake Nicaragua, on the coast of the city of Granda. It created 365 very small islands. One for each day of the year! They are all private-owned, increaiingly by foreigners. It's a vecious circle one foreigner comes along offers a silly amount of money for one, the others automatically go up in price, the locals give in to the much needed cash. Sill I went round this strange phenomena and obviously dreamt of having an island myself!! - Granada - Nicaragua
