Subject: Finding paradise in Malaysia! :)

Hi there everybody,
Feels like I've not written to you all in ages! Which is probably not the case! Hope you are all well!
I left Singapore and arrived in Bali last night! It was a pretty eventful start as I met a group of people and joined them for a drink; we ended up dancing until the wee hours of the morning! (I'm not complaining! :)
Arriving in Bali was a huge contrast with the way things have been going in the last few weeks! After Penang, I made my way to the Cameron Highlands. There, they have disappointing jungle walks but great tea plantations! From there I moved to Kuala Lumpur where I walked my little legs out! KL is quite surprising. It's very developed and you definitely get a sense of pride from this Malaysian capital for having won its independence after many conflicts. Wherever you go you get the constant reminder that Malaysia IS doing very well now the British, Portuguese, Japanese etc are gone! :)
2 days in Kuala Lumpur was enough and having heard many bad reports on 'historical Melaka', I skipped it and went straight to Tioman Island on the east coast of Malaysia! What a surprising Island. It's very wild, semi-secluded and pretty deserted! I met a Canadian guy, Kyle and we explored the sea as much as we explored the Island itself. I did 2 dives but we saw a lot more stuff snorkelling for a full day! We also trekked through the jungle to get to the east side of the Island. We saw huge bats populating trees, inquisitive monkeys still keeping their distance, a baby python that was at least 1.5m long! Loads of iguanas and salamanders and that's without mentioning the beautiful birds, the colourful butterflies and the amazing sounds of the jungle! To top it all we found an even more beautiful and secluded beach on the other side and then we got tipped off on a natural spring waterfall in the middle of the jungle! When you think
it can't get any better... :)
On this side of the island there are no TVs no email and no hassle, you walk bare foot, eat basic food and just soak up what Mother Nature has to offer! Finishing my travels in Malaysia in this place was the best thing I could have done! It made up for all the other not so easy times I had up in the north! :)
We stayed there until the day before my flight from Singapore! We just had one evening in little India, then Kyle took his boat to Indonesia and I got my flight to Bali. 3 days to go and then it will be a reunion with my sis in Cairns! Can't wait!
Talk to you all from there! :)
Lots of love!
Little Mendez xxx
