Hi there everyone,

How are you all? Hope very well! It has been quite a while since I last did an update! I must admit I did go through a crappy patch where I momentarily lost the enthusiasm and the focus! I know, how ungrateful is that! There I am, travelling the world while others are hardworking and suddenly I lose all that energy that I am famous for!!

Amongst other things that have troubled me recently, I just found it hard to pick up my rucksack and leave my sisters (you seem to constantly meet (and meet up with) people when you travel but unfortunately you're constantly leaving them too!). And it was also hard to think of all those young people who died in the Sari club where I'd spent evenings partying 2 weeks previous to the explosion. I'm not scared of travelling I'm just sad that things like these should ever happen. Unfortunately they do and I guess it was a bit of a reality check for me! :(

Still, I'm back on track and the enthusiasm is back too! Last week I spent most of my time walking around. I went to Hyde Park, walk along oxford street and checked out the markets in Paddington! Nope I haven't sneaked back to London without telling anyone, I was in Sydney where the wind is chilly, the shade is cool and the sun is blazing! I must have looked like a right nutter, forever putting my jumper and jacket back on only to take them off again at the next corner (and that's whilst fighting off the irritating flies) ;)

Sydney's Harbour is breathtaking. Funnily enough, I found the Opera house a little disappointing the closer I got to it. The highlight for me was the harbour bridge. It just sits there, happy with itself, like a bridge that would never take any crap from anyone. It's bold, chunky and dominates the harbour! I love it! Sydney is pretty trendy and there are no locals out of shape here! The guys are cute, tanned, blond and they love surfing. The girls are cute, tanned, blond and they love power walking! ;) The shops and bars are equally trendy (and pricey) and I must admit I was mainly looking in rather than going in! Except when Nicola took me on a tour of the local bars in Darling Harbour which was great! :)

Most of Sydney's Hostel population is made of very very young English and Dutch youngsters (did I mention they were very young?) who come here to work and get wasted (I mean, enjoy the Aussie nightlife). I must admit it was a little hard going for me! You all know what a lightweight I am but I did join these 4 English girls one evening. (Who'd spent their first 2 months in Sydney so drunk that they hardly remembered any of it!) We went to this pub where they toss a coin (heads or tails) at the bar. If you get it right you get whatever you ordered for free! You can imagine how popular this is! Worked in my favour and I had a very cheap night!

After a week of checking out Sydney and it's pretty costal and 'mountain' surroundings I was ready to move on to Melbourne where I am now! What can I say? Only a day into it and I love it! I don't know what it is about this place but it makes you feel welcome straight away! To me, Sydney is beautiful, Melbourne is attractive. Here, you want to go in the shops, bars, cafes, and restaurants. They spill out onto the streets welcomingly, unpretentious. The people are even friendlier than in Sydney (which is quite hard!) I can't wait to see more! I think I am quite lucky as today is very sunny as well. I'm supposed to stay here a week but I'm wondering if that's gonna be sufficient for me to get enough of the place!

Anyway will keep you all posted soon!
Lots of love
Little Mendez xxx
