Subject: X-day minus 3!! How did that happen! :O
Date: Sat, 21 Dec 2002 06:26:09 +0000
Hey there people,
I reckon most of you will probably get this email after the Xmas and New Year break but it only serves me right for sending it so late! :) How are you all doing out there? Xmas shopping all done? The turkey on its scepticle way to the oven? Xmas tree all set up? Xmas cards all sent?
Me neither... :) In fact, this year, there is a chance I will miss Xmas altogether. Not only do you forget about what day of the week it is when you're travelling but it's getting hotter here and I still can't compute that it's Xmas in 3 days! I reckon it wouldn't take me long to get used to having a barbeque on Xmas day though! :)
Unfortunately I'm working all of it (even new years day! :O) , fortunately I am getting paid double for it! :D I'm not complaining! I can see how people get sucked in by Queenstown and stay here for years! Not a place for money savers mind! Too many distractions and very little pay in terms of wages! The surroundings are amazing though and you can also go out partying any evening of the week. There is always something going on. Depending what you want to spend your energy and money on you can either go for a 4 days trek or on a 4 days bender, it's up to you :))
We actually went on a trek today up Mount Lomond! A nice 'steep stroll' 5 hours there and back! I got to work at 4 and haven't moved from my stool since! :)) From the very top, you could see the whole of Queenstown and lake Wakatipu surrounding it, Mount Aspiring, Coronet Peak and The Remarkables amongst other mountains which names I don't know! It was more fun than the trek I did a week before where it pissed down with rain for the whole 2 days! Yes I did have to buy a jacket in the end :(
Walking is all I can afford at the moment and maybe it's a good job too cos the other options around here are:
- Jumping off a bridge with just a rope attached to your ankles to make you bounce back
- Jumping off a cliff and trust a hand-gliding guide to take you back down safely.
- Jumping off a plane in tandem with a parachuting master (trusting him to take you down safely !:)
- Jumping into a speed boat and jetting off at top speed around the lake and other narrow stretches of water.
- Jumping into one of the rivers or streams with a skimpy little board and trust it to help you manoeuver yourself back down! ;) (I actually really want to try the river surfing! :)
Bring it on when I get the cash! :))
Other than that I have been busy working away at doing a website! It's been so long since I said I'd make one! it's a little bit self indulging actually! it all feels very me me me! But I guess that's what a personal website's like! I'm not planning on that main picture on the homepage being there for long though! That's just for a toast to the lot of you for Xmas and New Year! Which brings me to the purpose of this email: Wishing you all a very merry Xmas and all you hope for in the New Year! whatever that may be!
Have a great time and take care.
Miss you.
Love
Little Mendez
PS: The site lives at http://members.lycos.co.uk/ but will soon be moved to another address. Will let you know. It?s nowhere near finished by the way ;)
